Improve your ranking score on Google search engine with backlinks

The reason why I wrote this article was that I couldn't understand why my e-commerce store didn't rank higher on search engines. I am a doer, and I think, for me, was this the best way to understand search engine optimization, SEO. So I thought I had to dig deeper into the subject and find out what parameters are important to rank at search engines like Google.

And this is what I discovered.

One of the best ways to get a better ranking on Google is to gain backlinks from high-authority sites, and generate web traffic from your target audience, is to publish high-quality content on your blog or website. Bloggers and brand sites that use content marketing to drive traffic are always in need of fresh content. So if you have something to write about them, they'll be happy to link to it.

Backlinks from authoritative websites lead to higher domain authority, higher rankings on Google, and more web traffic, eventually improving sales and brand awareness. Gaining those links requires you to have high-quality content first, but there are other strategies you can employ to earn backlinks, which this article covers in the strategies below.

Unfortunately, there are no guaranteed search engine rankings. However, if you follow the tips in this article, you can increase your chances of ranking well in search engines and increase your website's online visibility. Creating high-quality content, optimizing your website for relevant keywords, and improving your website's loading speed and user experience are all important factors in achieving high Google rankings.

Why Do Links Matter So Much?

You'll need to go back to the internet's early years before Google to comprehend that.

Search engines from the past, like Alta Vista, and Yahoo, dominated the market. Additionally, they based the ranking of their search results entirely on a webpage's content.

The game was altered by Google's infamous PageRank algorithm, Penguin. Google looked at how many people linked to a page rather than just examining its content.

They were accurate, too. The best way to assess the caliber of a webpage still links, nearly 20 years later. Backlinks are nevertheless Google's primary ranking factor because of this.

What are Backlinks?

As I wrote before, backlinks are one of the best ways to get a higher ranking in Google.

So what are backlinks?

Backlinks are, to explain it simply, when someone is creating a link on their website, to your website.

The more links you have, from others, the better scoring you have on search engines, and the easier for people to find you.

That sounds nice, doesn't it?

But the tricky part is to get that, and it should also be from an authoritative website, not just anyone.

Nofollow and Dofollow Links.

A nofollow link is a link that contains a marker in its HTML code. This marker tells search engines not to give authority from the linking page to the destination page. Because of that marker or attribute, nofollow links have very little value from the SEO point of view.

A dofollow link is a link that points to your website for Google and other search engines to index. Dofollow links help with search engine optimization by bypassing the rank authority of the origin site to the destination site.

The only difference between a nofollow link and a dofollow link is the presence of the marker or attribute, the rel=”nofollow” tag.

A dofollow backlink is made by default in most website HTML editors. No extra coding is needed.

There are different ways to check whether a link is nofollow or dofollow, the most common are:

To check the HTML code, you have to search for the rel=”nofollow” tag.

Or use a backlink analysis tool, there are several free tools to find on the internet.

Build a Quality Website

Creating high-quality content will, naturally, lead to more backlinks.

A good website inspires others to believe that your content is worth linking to, and

immediately builds trust in you as a legitimate business.

But there is not enough to get backlinks from high authority sites only with a good website, the site requires continuous work and time investment and you have to create and publish content worth linking.

To build a website there are several tools online you can use.

You don't need any skills in designing or programming. The tool does that for you, and with a lot of ready-made templates, you can use.

One of my favorites is Webnode, it has a free and premium prescription.

It also has a lot of premade high-grade templates you can start with and build from. The free version is quite enough for a high-quality webshop, company site, or blog.

Publish Quality Content on Your Blog or Website

After you have started your blog or site, build on Webnode, for example. You have to have an audience to create backlinks.

To generate an audience, you need to have quality content, as I told you before. High-quality content can produce backlinks practically forever.

If you are a good writer, with interesting content, it gives sites of other bloggers, journalists, and companies to link to you and your site.

Well-written content generates organic traffic to your site that increases over time, unfortunately, there is no guarantee of high-authority backlinks.

Backlinks may be nofollow, delivering minimal SEO benefit beyond the traffic the link generates for your website.

Bloggers and brand websites that use content marketing to drive traffic always need new scope, so when you have something suitable for them to write about, they’ll be satisfied, and hopefully link to it.

Begin with keyword research to make sure that the keywords you use in your online content target the type of search traffic you want to attract. Then, create content that applies to your company, blog, and viewers. You then can create and email pitches to other websites that might be interested in your content and ask for a backlink.

Not clear what kinds of content to produce and publish? Create search term content that evokes excitement. One nice tool to use to find out what people are interested in at the moment is Google Trends.

You can use Google Trends to see what people are searching for in the part of the world you are looking for an audience. Perhaps you can find a subject you know things about and write stuff that attracts readers, and link builders.

There are a lot of keyword tools you can search for on the internet, Ahrefs keyword-generator is one of them, and it is free to use.

Help the reader

Google wants users to find results that address their issues and provide the information they need. To do this, articles that seem to address user intent are given a higher ranking and consequently receive more backlinks.

Therefore, the primary goal of your content should be to assist users in selecting what to read.

Simply by producing better content that provides a better user experience, you can use a helpful technique to raise the ranking of your website and increase the likelihood that your resources will be linked.

Focus on the following:

To make your content easier to read, include a table of contents.

An inviting introduction that draws readers in.

Title-keyword emphasis.

It's also important to note that this approach helps you create more useful, relevant content rather than directly driving backlinks.

Add Your Website to Online Directories

The next step is to add your website to several directories.

Facebook and LinkedIn are perhaps the first you think about. But those are sites among many others.

It could be hard to be noticed on those sites, you have to spend a lot of time on sites like them to build any confidence and an audience, and you have to stand out to be seen.

Originality is the keyword.

Submitting your site to online directories is a great place to start if you want to get your site noticed and improve your chances of ranking well in search engines. Nevertheless, it is only one of many simple website marketing tactics you can employ to increase website traffic.

So next thing is to list you on search engines:

Google Business is a good site to start with if you want to get listed on Google. And to be honest, if you are thinking of searching for anything on the internet, you think about Google.

Who hasn't said, I have to Google it?

Bing places for business is another site to connect and list your business on.

Yahoo is perhaps worth thinking about.

And so on….

Wikipedia has a list of search engines you can look up, the more search engines you join, the more people you can reach, and connect to.

Keep in mind that you should have a long-term strategy to build confidence and create followers. You won't succeed overnight.

It takes some time to grow on search engines, and there are many competitors.

But you need to be listed, so keep on working on that.

Submitting your website to online directories is a good method for getting noticed by search engines and potential clients. When you submit your site to a directory, you are informing the editorial staff of the directory that your site exists and that it is meaningful to their viewers. Find out what online business directories are the best for listing your business.

Listings increase your site's exposure and traffic in search engine results pages (SERPs). The majority of these directories have high Google authority, so the backlinks earned benefit your SEO, continuing to improve your website's search engine ranking. Furthermore, submitting your site to meaningful directories can aid in the development of your brand's internet presence and reputation.

Write Something Better

One thing many use is publishing what they call skyscraper content.

And what is that?

An easy explanation is that you write about something interesting you read online, the thing is to make a better story.

How do you do that?

First of all, find content in your niche you like that makes you interested, and that’s already achieved well in terms of backlinks.

How do you find those?

Just do a simple Google search.

Search for something you are good at, and know a lot about, and check out the first-page result, beneath the sponsored results.

The first results under the sponsored links have around 4 times more backlinks than position 2-10, and if a site is on the first page of Google, they probably all have a lot of backlinks.

So if a page is ranking on the first page, lots of people have probably linked to it, and as you know now, backlinks are important for ranking on Google.

Create an article that is much better than the piece you found, you have to make it five to six times better than that article, or even better. The more effort you put into it, the better it is for the ranking.

Then you have to promote your article.

There are many ways to do so, one smart way is to email all the people and companies you referred to in the article and ask if they could share the article you wrote.

If they share, it gives the article a higher legitimacy and more people read it and hopefully share it, and link to it.

Promote your content also to those who linked to the original piece.

And your backlink growth is starting.

Write an E-book or a Guide

If you are an expert on any subject or at least know a lot about it you can write helpful content for others to spread your knowledge.

One way is to write an E-book or any sort of guide to help others to understand more about your subject.

That gives you also an increased possibility to build many backlinks from high-authority sites.

To write a high-quality guide or an e-book, you have to put a lot of effort into research and writing and make the content interesting, with illustration and design.

Publishing e-books may be a good way to get backlinks. You inspire other high-quality websites to link to you, as a resource by creating an e-book and making it freely available on your website. Backlinks and increased traffic also help your website's search engine ranking and exposure. But there is no guarantee people will actually read your e-book or guide, and link back to your content.

Furthermore, because e-books are typically published as PDFs, they are simple to link to and share easily and quickly through social media and email campaigns. Besides that, your e-book can link to other content on your website, increasing traffic to your content and improving your page's SEO and ranking on Google.

E-books can be created for any stage of the sales funnel, but they are most commonly used to produce subscription lists and qualified leads. E-books can usually be created to meet a wide variety of content requirements. You could, for example, create an ebook with a top ten list of tips, trends, or facts. You can also reuse content by creating a free download e-book guidance out of a collection of articles.

Ideally, you will use a combination of techniques to draw more attention to your e-book. To spread the word, you may send an email to your contact list, and share a link on social media.

Link to Adequate Websites and Tell Them

One more easy way to get quality backlinks is to go to authority sites in your area and tell them about it.

This strategy is particularly beneficial for affiliate site owners who frequently struggle to obtain links to their content. Trying to contact the site owner of the products you are promoting in your articles and notifying them that they are in your article or that you published a review may result in a backlink.

This method, moreover, applies to any type of website. Simply link to other websites and notify them that they have been featured. Some of the website owners will perhaps give you a backlink in return for their publicity.

Get High-quality Backlinks From Social Media

Turning to social media influencers, are people who create their own identity through knowledge and expertise in a particular field. They often publish regular posts or videos on this topic on all social media platforms and gain a huge following which attracts more people to their page or channel.

Social media like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, and blogs are the tools we use to build these relationships. Here we show the personality of our company. It's a way to introduce yourself and engage in conversations by providing real value. It's important to consider this relationship in all your social media activity, whether business-to-business or business-to-consumer. Think about conversations—listening as much or more, sharing what's helpful, and responding to others.

Identify and analyze your competition

With that overview, it's time to find out what your competitors are doing and what you're not. To do this, you'll need to launch a detailed comparison tool within your SEO suite of choice. For Ahrefs users, it's their Backlink Checker tool.

If you use a tool that evaluates your competitor's backlinks, like Ahrefs, as part of your comparison process, feel free to skip to the next section. If not, here's how to manually find your competitor's best backlinks, and it is the same as I wrote before:

Create high-quality content.

Writing high-quality content is one of the most effective ways to increase your chances of getting links from large sites. In short, writing high-quality content increases the feeling that you are a professional and convinces other website owners that you are the kind of person who can benefit from each other.

Second, you need to publish content that is as in-depth and comprehensive as your organic competitors, if not more. As mentioned earlier, create content that is 10x better than the highest-ranking post for your target keyword term. Add your unique insights and perspectives to make it as link-worthy as possible. Try to make the post the go-to place for your audience on that particular topic.

Target high-quality backlinks.

One of the best ways to gain backlinks from high-authority sites (and generate web traffic from your target audience) is to publish high-quality content on your blog. Topic bloggers and brand sites that use content marketing to drive traffic are always in need of fresh content. So if you have something to write about them, they'll be happy to link to it.

But as I wrote before, social media needs a lot of effort from you.

You have to have something unique to publish, to make yourself visible on social media.

You also have to be active on social media, make conversations and interact with other people. You have to be a true reader and write engaged comments. Not just likes and thumbs up in the comment section to get good results.

But even if all you do is build a Facebook business page with your website link, you have created a backlink from one of the top sites in the world. And you should also do this for Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, and all the other social media sites you know.

There are many ways to drive traffic to your site and get more backlink chances if you use social media effectively.

Post regularly and engage with your audience to build loyalty and trust. And don't forget to include your link in any social media you use.

Pinterest

A Facebook Post's half-life is roughly 1,500 times shorter than a Pinterest Pin.

It follows that the time you invest in developing a post on Pinterest will have a longer viewing life than a post you write on Facebook.

I frequently use Pinterest to create backlinks because it is one interesting social media platform, with millions of active users.

Your Pinterest page's link is a dofollow link, which is good for SEO. However, since the links on the pins you share and reshare are nofollow, SEO is unaffected.

It takes more than just posting material to Pinterest to build backlinks. Having a complete Pinterest profile is a terrific strategy to establish your authority and start generating backlinks.

For SEO, credibility, and trust, consider using Pinterest Business, which is free. Also, be sure to consider the following.

Have a straightforward username that represents your brand.

Make sure your about section is finished.

Your location has been added.

That you've updated your profile with a photo or logo, and most importantly, a link to your website.

Social Bookmarking Links

Websites for social bookmarking are places where Internet users can post their web pages, articles, blog posts, images, and videos. Submitting your content to one, or more, of these websites has several benefits. They aid in spreading the word about your brand, to start.

Social bookmarking is tagging a website page with a browser-based tool so that you can easily visit it again later. As the web has grown, massively popular communities have been created around this practice.

Sites that post their links excessively, especially on low-quality social bookmarking sites, can hurt rather than help their rankings.

This doesn't mean you should stop using social bookmarking sites altogether; rather, it means that instead of making a ton of low-quality pins linking to your website on Pinterest, you should brush up on your SEO techniques there.

Make sure your website's social bookmarking presence is sincere and focused on interaction rather than spamming hundreds of links.

Besides Pinterest and Twitter, there are a lot of other social bookmarking sites like:

StumbleUpon

One of the more popular social bookmarking websites is StumbleUpon. Every time you bookmark something, you have the option of adding additional information, such as the subject and the type of content it is.

Reddit

The front page of the internet is what Reddit refers to itself as. Reddit users can upvote or downvote links that users submit to articles, images, or videos that they find interesting.

You can create a list of content you have bookmarked by upvoting, commenting, or downvoting. Additionally, it's a great way to market your content.

Pocket

An attractively made social bookmarking platform is Pocket. You can save time by not constantly visiting the site by using the app that is included. To find interesting things, you can search by interest as well.

This implies that including your content on the website gives users another way to discover it.

If these aren't interesting, try Google social bookmarking sites, and you will find many more.

Commenting on Blog Posts & Forum

Commenting on other people's blog posts and forum sites is another way to reach your target audience in a personable, interesting way.

Important comments remain in the article's comment thread, as well as the link to your website.

Researching may take a significant amount of time and effort, and comments to links could be automatically deleted, or links may be removed.

Even comments can be deleted after a certain period, usually around three months, or a site may disable the blog comments field.

Good relationships are the foundation of how to obtain backlinks from highly reputable websites and blog posts. You will not get very far if you simply post your link in every relevant industry blog or forum; you'll most likely be labeled as a spammer. Comment on a blog or forum works as a backlink method, creating each comment interactive and engaging, and useful, rather than a sales promotion.

First, find blogs, forums, and Facebook groups that make sense for you to follow or belong to, and then join in the conversations. Don’t try to include a link in every post or response you give. You’re commenting to offer valuable knowledge or help with a pain point.

People do tend to detect low-quality posts and spam but always publish with truthfulness and real value, whether it is quick and simple or time-consuming and hard to write. Add a link to an article on your website if it makes any sense. Alternatively, wait for someone to ask about your company's services.

Commenting in a forum works similarly to blogging, start sharing links in forums connected to your specialty.

When you have the time to provide feedback on your work, do so.

Write Guest Posts

Choose the best guest post opportunities based on how relevant they are to your niche, as you're more likely to write valuable content. The backlinks you get will also be more effective because Google will find them relevant. You should only be targeting 30 or so guest bloggers otherwise you'll end up writing too many articles!

Optimize your guest post, for this, you may need to write an article optimized for SEO.

Write for popular blog platforms.

Bloggers are interested in publishing high-quality content on their blogs that they can use to attract new readers and share with current readers. This makes guest blogging a win-win solution for website owners who want to rank higher in search engines and bloggers who are interested in attracting more readers to their blogs.

Guest blogging on your niche website is a great web strategy that can be used in any content marketing plan. By contributing to niche blogs, you have the opportunity to connect with audiences you may never have reached. The more guest blogs you help create, the bigger your readership will be. If your content is useful, engaging, and provides real value, you may have people following you directly on social media to see when your next post will be published.

Always write quality content that provides value to readers. Don't just guest post to get backlinks. Make sure your article is worth reading. Likewise, you want people to click on links in your posts to discover more of your content.

Don't skimp on the quality of your guest post, especially if you're using it to generate more leads and sales. Every article you publish online should serve as your website's brand. So put as much effort into this article as you would publish an article on your website.

To find bloggers that accept guest blogging, just do a Google search, and start to interact with those who have content you could write and post to.

A tip is to use a keyword of the subject you could write about + guest blogging, and perhaps you find any interesting blog you can connect to.

Several sites are listing bloggers who accept guest bloggers, like:

Dmytro Spilka's list of 300 bloggers/sites that accept guest bloggers

350 Free Guest Posting Sites Where You Can Submit Guest Posts

57 Free Backlinks Sites List

Don't forget that you can invite other writers to write guest posts on your site. If you have that kind of site.

Search for writers in your niche and contact them, you have to build a trustworthy relationship with them, so they can feel that they have trust in you and your company.

Find Broken Links on Your and Others' Website

A repaired broken link could lead to many backlinks to your site.

It will reconnect an audience who already has a link to you.

It takes some time and effort from you, to investigate broken links, but the return on the investment might be well worth it. A piece of content with even one broken link might have several other sites linking back to it. Your site could receive a significant amount of fresh traffic and backlinks if you provide the site with an unbroken new link for the anchor text.

There are several tools on the internet to search and find broken links, and Ahrefs Broken Link Checker is one of them. Google, broken link checker, and you will find more.

You can also look for broken links on other companies' sites and inform them about the broken link. To get backlinks from broken links, look for websites with high page authority and content that has a large number of links. Semrush has site auditing tools that can help you determine a site's domain authority and identify broken links on the websites from which you want to earn backlinks. Or you can use Ahrefs Broken Link Checker to identify broken links.

If you have valuable content for any of these broken links, contact the site via email or maybe an email contact form and request that the broken link be replaced with a link to your content. If you don't have content, create a new blog post and then reach out to suggest a link replacement. If the site refuses to replace the damaged link with your content, they may be willing to allow you to publish a guest post on a related topic to their article.

Remember that broken links on a webpage harm the user's experience, which further affects SEO. If you can recommend a simple fix, or fix your broken link, it will benefit your site and SEO, or the site from which you want a backlink.

Find Unlinked Mentions

Unlinked brand mentions are content pieces that mention names associated with your company but do not link to your website.

These mentions can be found in a variety of places, including social media, podcasts, videos, forums, websites, blogs, and news sites.

When anyone mentions your brand through social media, you receive an alert within the app. How do I find references in other places?

Finding unlinked mentions from highly authoritative websites to build backlinks from could be as simple as simply Googling for mentions of your company's name. Then, start creating an outreach campaign to request a link, which should be simple given the fact that they mention you in their content. You can simply use a Google search to find mentions, or you can use the BrandMentions app, which makes it simple to find mentions of your company all over the internet. There are many other alternative tools like Zoho Social, Semrush, Brand24, and many more.

Keep track of those you contact and any new backlinks you get as a result. One of the best tools for tracking all your search optimization efforts, including SEO backlinks is Ahrefs.

Do a Press Release

It is simple to target journalists who are relevant to your area or industry.

Capability to cast a net that is hyper-local, regional, or national

A single press release can result in numerous backlinks.

When a newsworthy event occurs, such as the release of a new product or service, support for a charity or community event, or the hiring of a new employee, it is a good idea to do a press release. It's an excellent way to provide content to journalists who cover your industry or position, such as newspapers, magazines, and TV channels. In exchange, when articles about your event or piece of news are published online, you are more likely to receive backlinks.

The copy of your press release should include targeted keywords, a link to your homepage, and your company information. Send your press releases to as many journalists and bloggers as possible, as long as your press release is relevant to what they are writing about.

You can get more tips on how a press release works, and what you have to think about releasing in this article, 13 Tips for How to Distribute a Press Release Effectively.

Bad backlinks can also come from press releases. However, this does not mean that your website will suffer for every chance to publish a press release.

The method you use is the topic. Google has stated that they disapprove of press releases that are drenched in useless backlinks. It's not a good idea to spam your press release to dozens of newswires by stuffing the page with keyword-heavy links back to your website. The issue arises when businesses try to increase their SEO by doing this repeatedly.

It involves attempting to trick search engines. SEO requires time. It's not going to happen if you try to implement seemingly straightforward solutions, like sending out press releases that are full of links. These techniques will either be ignored or penalized by search engines.

Use HARO

HARO, which stands for Help A Reporter Out, connects journalists with story sources.

If a journalist or publisher has an article idea but is having difficulty connecting with an article subject, they can use HARO to request subjects.

In its most basic form, HARO is a email list that caters to both online and offline journalists looking for story sources. This is ideal for startup companies looking to demonstrate their industry knowledge and gain exposure.

Requests can be about anything. This provides journalists and public relations firms or startups with an abundance of possibilities to provide commentary.

Making an account on HARO is free. As an expert, you simply answer questions about topics and industries in which you are an authority. Every day, you'll receive emails with new queries, to which you can respond with a quote, a brief bio highlighting your expert knowledge and abilities, and a link to your web page.

Bloggers and reporters will usually include a backlink to your site when relying on your response or expertise to help prove your authority and their fact-checking. It's a definite plus because they get the facts they need to write their material and you get the possibility of gaining backlinks from high-authority sites.

Connect with Bloggers

Gaining backlinks from high-authority blogs is also a good idea because they have a large readership and your site may be spread to a large number of people.

Approval from bloggers is more potent, and it often produces better results and reaches more people than traditional marketing.

It may be costly as well-known bloggers aren't free, they must have something for their effort.

If you have that type of business, one way to pay a blogger is to send free products.

It is relatively easy to send bloggers free products or free trials of services, and many companies make progress with this method of marketing strategy. If the blogger or influencer accepts to review the product or service for free as content for their followers, it could result in a backlink for your website.

You must first establish a connection to the blogger before asking for a review, just as you would when building a relationship. And getting your product free may not be enough for top bloggers and influencers. Consider how you can improve the deal, such as offering an exclusive price reduction to their viewing public or offering to pay the influencer.

Use Memberships

One tip I saw in this video, by H-Educate, was to become a member of sites. Some of them can put your link in your member account. And bang, you have a backlink, not always a dofollow, but a backlink. If you then are active on those pages, you perhaps get some people visiting your site. That can also give you backlinks if you are lucky.

On this page H-supertools, you find some interesting free tools and a list of sites that can give you some backlinks.

The Backlinks List displays links from various locations and market segments, as well as allows users to obtain links for their websites. This means you can get targeted backlinks for your website without having to spend a lot of time researching the internet.

Write Testimonials

Writing testimonials for other websites is much easier than requesting testimonials from customers or clients, this is ideal for small businesses that want to show support for organizations whose mission aligns with their own.

Testimonials are frequently shared on social media as well as in other marketing content like brochures and promotions.

They increase brand awareness and trust and may result in a backlink.

They are quick to write, and what company doesn't want to be praised for their brand or product?

To write an effective testimonial, you don't even need to be a good writer, just be honest and direct.

Find organizations in your field that are similar to yours by conducting research, or start with the companies your company already purchases from. After that, write your testimonial and send it in along with a picture of you or your company's logo, a brief bio, and a link to your website. Your SEO could benefit from a backlink if the website publishes your testimonial.

Outsource Link Building

You can outsource link building and significantly improve your results, but it must be done correctly.

Link building is an important part of any SEO strategy, but it can be difficult if you aren't an expert.

Building the relationships and content required to build links takes time, which many website builders do not have.

Outsourcing link-building appears to be a straightforward solution. Simply hire a third party to handle the process for you.

You pay the money, they build links for you, and your website rockets to the top of the search engine results.

Freelancers can be found on websites like Upwork and Fiverr. These websites are helpful because they allow you to read actual testimonials from customers who have previously used the services.

Using a freelancer has the advantage that they may be less expensive than agencies.

The drawback is that evaluating a freelancer's caliber can be challenging.

Using a link-building agency.

The majority of link-building agencies provide a range of services, from one-off links to long-term link-building.

Hiring an agency has the advantage of giving you access to a wealth of knowledge.

When working with an agency, you have access to a much wider range of expertise than if you just hired one freelancer.

Of course, not every agency will perform well. However, it is simple to locate high-quality link-building services by looking for those that have delivered prosperous businesses.

The drawback is that spending money on a link-building agency can be expensive.

Be A Part of a Community

Backlinks don't always have to come from guest posts or offering worthwhile, shareable resources. Many people's backlinking strategies include simply being a member of particular communities.

For instance, responding to queries on forums and websites like Quora or Reddit can generate a lot of traffic. Even though many of these communities employ nofollow attributes in links, they can still increase the volume of human clicks.

This is especially true if you present a clear solution to a problem or amazing insight. It's one of the causes for which many content marketers invest time in responding to queries on Reddit and Quora.

Additionally, a page performs better in search results the more visitors it receives.

You can use your website’s content as a way to refer to and expand on your answers.

How to Use Your Link in an Article

According to some evidence, the higher up on a page your link is, the more authority it will pass.

Compared to links in a sidebar or the footer, links in the header or at the beginning of the body will be much more valuable.

The less impactful a link is, the deeper it is buried in the article.

Get your link as high above the fold as you can, if you can.

Early links typically receive more attention, increasing both the visibility of your brand and the overall number of clicks. This is advantageous for the generation of referral traffic.

In no case should an article contain more than one link to your website.

Even though it might be possible to place several contextually appropriate links to your website in the body of a single article, this approach is not recommended.

If you link to yourself more than once, each additional link will give your site less authority. If you link too frequently, you'll raise the ire of both your publisher and Google's search algorithm.

Instead, concentrate on creating one solid, pertinent link to your domain while remaining free to include links to other domains.

It is in your best interest to include links to other high-quality domains in the body of your article if you want your link to stick, and be well-received by your audience.

If and when other people research the subject matter of your blog posts, this will increase the likelihood that they will link directly to your site, giving your brand a more credible appearance in the process. In other words, it's a helpful tactic to attract more web researchers and writers.

Methods of Building Backlinks You Should Avoid

Spammy Sites

Even though it's not always simple to define, most people are familiar with what spam is. It's irrelevant advertisements or websites that promote questionable or predatory products. The same applies to spammy backlinks.

These are irrelevant links that could damage the reputation of your brand and come from websites that you simply don't want to be associated with.

Now is the time to research your backlinks if you haven't already. To get a list of backlinks to your website, use a backlink tool. Try to identify the spammy ones as you read through them.

Google advises contacting the websites that are the sources of your backlinks and asking for their removal before doing anything else. After doing so, you can use the Google Search Console Disavow tool to ask for the deletion of those links.

But keep in mind that one or two spammy links won't ruin the SEO of your website, so handle it appropriately. When evaluating your SEO, Google's algorithm frequently ignores these types of undesirable backlinks. It might be worthwhile to disavow them if you discover an excessive number of these backlinks, though.

Paid links

Paid links from websites that act as link farms are commonplace. The issue is that having more links isn't always beneficial, especially when they originate from questionable places like link farms.

Google and other search engines have generally worked to make their algorithms harder to game. In other words, they don't want the person who has bought the most backlinks to appear first in search engine results. These are known as link schemes, according to Google, and can include links obtained in exchange for cash or other resources. This is especially true when building links quickly and easily in bulk.

You have a good chance of running into opportunities of all kinds that fit this description. This group includes anyone who asks for money and promises to increase your SEO quickly with tons of backlinks. Large numbers of poor-quality backlinks are ultimately not worthwhile. No matter how clever the latest scheme seems, search engines are always learning, so it will eventually be exposed.

Quality matters more than quantity when it comes to links. When you produce material that readers find engaging, they'll begin to share it and cite it in other writing. Natural, high-quality backlinking occurs in this manner.

Using Only Dofollow Links

Dofollow links will improve your site's ranking and visibility in search results, whereas nofollow links have no such advantages, this is not exactly true.

Nofollow links undoubtedly still have value even though they don't have the same impact as dofollow links. It's crucial to have a balance between dofollow and nofollow links.

Google is searching for a natural backlink profile for your website, one that shows that it is getting organic traffic and possibly has something to offer its visitors. A mix of dofollow and nofollow links can be found on all naturally popular websites. Google will notice this unnatural behavior if your site only receives dofollow links, and it's likely that you'll receive a penalty.

Using too many anchor texts

Both their distribution density and the range of anchor text phrases they use must be considered carefully.

Some anchor text links and additional organic text links make up a natural link profile.

Both of these are organic linking archetypes that Google will recognize. While anchor text links are beneficial in moderation, if you stuff a lot of them into your backlink profile, Google will notice the contrast between your profile and the typical, organic backlink profiles of other websites.

Backlink Generators

Nearly half a million results appear when you search Google for "backlink generator," with the top websites providing thousands of no-cost, high-quality backlinks in a matter of minutes.

These companies use automated backlink spammers to spread your link as widely as possible. You may have noticed the growth of CAPTCHA over the years, a program that asks you to participate to register for a website by typing a word or string of numbers. This increase is partly attributable to backlink generators that take advantage of natural websites.

You should never use spammy link generators for search engine marketing because they will always have negative effects on your website.

Bad Location of Backlinks

Google is a very shrewd company.

It examines not only the links that exit a page but also their placement on that page. Google is aware that links in sidebars frequently contain advertising, such as banner ads and ads.

If at all possible, you should place your backlink in the page's body because this is where Google finds the majority of its natural, non-commercial backlinks that have been placed to provide user value.

Private Blog Networks

A private blog network is a collection of websites or blogs that are usually owned by a single person and are operated solely to sell links. The websites that make up the network typically only have a few pages of content, and they are rarely updated.

The common person who stumbled upon one of these websites wouldn't be aware that it was a part of a network. They would probably assume that the site had been abandoned.

But these websites frequently charge for link placement.

One of two methods is provided by the blog network's owner for you to link back to your website. By releasing a fresh article with your link in it, or by incorporating your link into a previously written article.

Naturally, the network's owner does not offer this service for free. Thus, anyone who places links on a private blog network does so to trick Google's algorithm and improve their rankings.

Google monitors and takes down private blog networks. When a blog network is discovered, the search engine de-indexes every site on it. As a result, website owners lose their links and might risk being penalized for buying links for their websites.

Blog spamming

When a bot or human leaves an irrelevant comment with a link to a spammy website, that behavior is known as comment spam. It harms both your search engine rankings and website visitors' experiences.

Clicking links to insecure websites can expose unwary visitors to viruses, malware, or phishing scams, search engines penalize websites with a lot of comment spam. Spam comments also give the impression that you don't take the time to maintain and watch over your website, which is bad for your reputation and brand.

Spammers can post millions of comments with the right software. Profit can be made by deceiving a small number of gullible victims into providing their credit card information or purchasing dubious goods. To deceive website administrators into believing that their comments are legitimate, spammers have gotten better at making comments look authentic. They pose queries, ask for assistance, or mention a problem to sound like genuine commenters looking for solutions, but in reality, they are spammers looking to gain access to backlinks. These remarks are frequently identified by their poor grammar, lack of substance, or overly formal tone.

You should try to find those types of comment spam in your blog or comment field and delete them.

Is Google ranking without backlinks possible?

Without backlinks, you can still rank on Google, but you'll need to use other strategies. Start by publishing high-quality content on your website, as you should with any wise SEO strategy. Target long-tail keywords that are simpler to rank for, collect client feedback for your Google Business Profile, and confirm the accuracy of your online citations and business listings. These are just a few strategies for improving your Google ranking, even if you don't have many backlinks from authoritative sites.

Conclusion

Obtaining high-quality SEO backlinks can take time and be difficult. It implies building alliances and connections, conducting outreach, and putting up link-worthy content on your website. But it's well worth the investment when more web traffic from links and organic search generates new leads and clients for your company.

The more other sites are linking to you, the more interesting you are.

But as you saw in this article, it is not easy to gain backlinks, it relies on hard work for you or your company. You have to be trustworthy and serious in your effort to gain backlinks from high-authority websites, and it takes some time.
