What I want to leave behind in 2021 (and why I quit drinking).

I want to leave my debts.

I am an embryologist and work with helping people to get children (IVF). I love my work and am quite engaged in my workdays.

But working as an embryologist is a job with a lot of inner stress because you can’t do any mistakes, and always have to double-check yourself all the time.

That results in OCD, almost every embryologist I know have OCD issues.

So to reduce my inner stress I’ve could take one or two glasses of wine, or sometimes much more than that, to feel relaxed after work.

I would not call me an alcoholic, but others perhaps would, I used it to get rid of my inner stress.

But one and a half year ago I decided to quit drinking, I have had the feeling for a long time that it wasn’t ok any longer, and my wife saw that it wasn’t good for me any more. So I stopped from one day to another.

I haven’t had one glas of wine or any other alcohol since then, and I don’t miss it either. Not at all!

My wife have a glass of wine now and then, but I don’t have any wish to have a glass myself.

I am feeling better and better every day, I would not have been able to write anything before, and now I love writing. The mess in my head is fading out. To reduce the stress in my body, I now train at a gym, and most importantly, I walk my 10 000 steps after work every day, it releases all the stress from my body and gives me time to think.

But, with alcohol in your brain you do stupid things, mine was bad investments with some loss, so I have a big debt to pay.

That is what I want to leave in 2021 but, unfortunately, it is not possible.

I have to keep it in my bag until I paid for it all. But the bag is less heavy for every month, so perhaps it will be empty someday.
