One-page sites at no cost

 A webpage to promote yourself or affiliate products you promote or whatever you are working with is always good to have. A one-page website is a "new" upscaling way to have a webpage.

I prefer one-pagers myself, websites with too many under pages are hard to find information on.You have to search around too much on the page and lose interest if you don't find it quickly enough. One page is, as they are called one page, easy to find the information you need about the company you are interested in. One page is also useful for a CV, an more personal invitation to a party, wedding, personal page, and any sort of presentation you have to do. I am using two one-page sites to build web pages. Both have a free version, and of course one paid.

We start with Webnode:

Webnode has a bit tricky UI and not so good help, in my opinion. It has enough templates to start with and change for your purpose but have you selected one so can't you change the template. You have to start from the beginning again.

But when you understand the UI it is quite good with all the features you need. It is a simple web page with no animation and finesse. A plain website for information. And it is good for that.

The templates are nice and minimalistic, just the sort of web pages I like. Not a lot of disturbing clutter.

They offer free hosting with their domain name and you can change to your domain if you want.

It is a nice one-page website for free. 

There is, as far as I know, no limitation on how many pages you can make. I have around 20 at the moment and that is ok.

The second one is Carrd:

Carrd has a more intuitive UI, I think, with a lot more features and finesse. You can animate, and to a lot more changes in the design and text.

They have nice templates, to begin with, for whatever you want to present.

Unlike Webnode is it more useful if you want to do a more professional presentation.

It hosts your site with its domain, but you can also change it to what domain you have.

The free version lets you have three pages. For about $10 you can have up to ten pages.

Both of these Website builders are nice in my opinion. 

Easy enough to work with, and create good-looking pages with a fast loading time.

Hillsong Church - pay to pray

Saw a documentary the other day that made me so angry.

It was about Hillsong church, a church for young people at the go. A very trendy and hip church.

The frightening thing about the church was that the leaders of the church were living the good life with nice cars and nice houses and talking about how generous God has been to them.

But the truth was that they were living on the members of the church's gifts.

They were preaching about the goodness in giving, even the Sunday school was preaching about giving money, to the children. They learned that giving money to the church makes you closer to God, to children!

The intention of the Church could have been good at the beginning but had grown to an industry with churches around the World. From one church in Australia to churches in 30 countries. They have also used the concept of having celebrities like Justin Bieber and others, probably well paid, as members to attract other young members.

It is built on voluntary work and many people participated in that.

I understand the need for some people to feel a belonging to something. If you have had a bad life and someone opens the door for you and lets you in. It must be a great feeling.

But these churches, there are many like this, are making a profit from people's needs rather than helping them.

The Church of Scientology is also an example of that.

The "preachers" are using cliches from the podium and talk about the goodness God has given to them. Sure, they have got a good life. The volunteers work for nothing with the belief that that good life will also come to them one day.

For some, perhaps it will, but most of them will have the same life as they always have had.

Ok, they can help drug addiction or alcoholism at one point. From drug addiction to God addiction. Addiction is addiction.

And there are many other ways for addicts to get help and it looked like they didn't have a plan to help people. More than prayers. There are better ways to help where you don't have to donate a lot of money.

Their preaching feels very shallow and built around cliches. Many of the leading figures seem to not know much about the Bible they are preaching from. They know some of the written words but not the depth of them. One of the staff didn't even know about Judas and what he stands for. I am not a religious person, not in that meaning anyway, but I know the story of Judas at least.

The whole church is built around a pop culture with cool clothes and a cool style.

They even, and that is scary, said that they could heal cancer and other diseases by prayers.

Cheat on people's needs.

It is so shameful.

And everything was about money, giving was the giving of money. And the more the members give the closer they will be to God. 

Profit on people's needs.

It has been criticized to have a sect status. If you want to leave the church, people from the church are ghosting you to have you back. Sometimes for years. Many defectors also talk about a silent culture in the church.

Hillson has grown from one church too many churches with around 150000 visitors every week.

Criticism has also been given to overworked volunteers. And the tribute to beautiful people. Those who stand at the podium are always beautiful and mostly white men. Coloured are not so common, but now a black priest has been authorized in the USA, due to the criticism.  

The members have to give one-tenth of their income to the church. And every Sunday they have to give money if they visit the sermon. It is a lot of money in the end. And none of them ends up at the volunteer's hand. 

An industry of believers to grow bigger and bigger and, sadly, there must be a need for churches like Hillson, some sort of emptiness and loneliness is hanging over many people and a search for context in their life.

The leader of the church gave me a feeling of greedy persons with false smiles and as far as I know, is greedy one of the Seven deadly sins.

Apple is taking steps to battle AirTag monitoring

Apple is taking steps to battle AirTag monitoring by introducing a variety of improvements that will make it more difficult to track someone using AirTags.

The devices are designed to operate with Apple's 'Find My' system, which allows users to track down missing objects.

The company claims that the improvements to the gadget would make it easier to spot suspicious tags and will inform customers sooner if an AirTag is traveling with them.

A number of women told the BBC in January that they had been followed using AirTags.

AirTags were introduced by Apple in April of last year. The little, circular devices can be fastened to baggage, keys, or anything else that can be misplaced.

However, disguised in a car or on a personal object such as a bag, the devices can be used to track people.

Apple noted that as part of the modifications to make misuse more difficult, any user setting up their AirTag for the first time would get a notice that using the device to follow individuals without their permission is illegal in many countries.

If an AirTag moves with them, iPhone owners (and Android users who download an app) receive an unpleasant tracking alert.

People will be notified sooner if an unknown AirTag is traveling with them, according to Apple.

Users of iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone 13 devices will be able to use precision finding to view the distance and direction to an unknown AirTag when it is in range when they are warned of unwanted tracking by an AirTag. This could previously only be done by the AirTag's owner.

To make the suspect AirTag play tones, iOS users can send an unwelcome tracking alert, and Apple has stated that tags will use louder tones in the future to make the tag easier to locate.

The business also announced that it will improve a function that makes an AirTag that hasn't been with the person who registered it for a long time play a sound when transferred.

To be a part of the Earth recovery and preserve for the next generation we have to rethink and try to live more with recycling in our mind.

Most of us already do so and have it in our daily living.

Reusing is one big important issue to limit the huge amount of trash we are producing.

People in rich countries can afford to buy new when things are broken or use plastic bags.

The funny thing is that we lived that reusing way about 100 years ago, but it was mostly the poor who did so. They had no choice. But repairing was more common among all.

That's what you did. If it was functional, you repaired it. 

Now is repairing often at nearly the same price as a new product.

Isn't that insane.

If the ink in my inkjet printer dries and it doesn't print well it's to buy a new one instead of letting someone fix it. Sometimes it is cheaper or at least the same price to buy a new printer rather than buying ink for the printer.

That is also insane.

If you crash your car it is seldom the insurance company pays for the repair of the car, instead, they scrap the car and pay you what it's worth.

I can line up a lot of examples of insane wear and tear we live after. But most of you know them so it is not a point to do that.

It is better to think, what can we do instead?

Here I have some examples of things we can do, or buy, with reusing thinking. Hope some of you find it as an inspiration to further changes you can do in your life.
